Garbage will be picked up early in Milwaukee on Thursday and Friday because of the heat

On Thursday and Friday, garbage and recycling pickup will begin an hour earlier than normal, according to the city Department of Public Works.

The change in schedule is in response to a heat advisory issued for Thursday and Friday.

The department suggests putting carts out the night before or by 6 a.m. the day of collection to minimize the amount of time sanitation crews have to spend in the heat.
