Pair with machete, gun rob gas stations in Ventura, Santa Paula

Armed with a big machete and a handgun, two men robbed gas stations in Ventura and Santa Paula, authorities said Wednesday. 

The first robbery was reported at 10:05 p.m. Tuesday in Ventura at a Chevron station in the 7700 block of Telegraph Road. 

Police said the robbers entered, approached the lone clerk and demanded money from the register. The clerk gave an undisclosed amount of cash to the men, who fled on foot, police said.

One of the men, ranging from 20 to 30 years old, wore a black beanie and a light hoodie and was armed with a black handgun, police said. The other robber, also 20 to 30 years old, wore a dark jacket and black ski mask and carried a large machete, according to police.

The second robbery was reported at about 1 a.m. Wednesday in Santa Paula at a Sinclair station in the 100 block of North 10th Street, according to authorities. In this robbery, the man with the gun retrieved an undisclosed amount of cash from the  register and the man with the machete damaged store displays before the fled toward Ventura Street, according to Santa Paula police.

Neither clerk was injured, according to authorities.
