Ag tech helps Illinois farmer improve yields

A central Illinois farmer says ag tech has helped improve yields on his corn and soybean operation.

“There is no question that ag tech has improved profitability on my farm.”

Jacob Wade, farms in McLean County, Illinois which was the largest producing county of both corn and soybeans in the nation in 2018. Wade says ag tech helped achieve those yields on his farm.

“Being able to diagnose data from previous years helped me to make decisions to go out and do some early planting trials. All of this was using ag tech platforms and being able to diagnose the data during the winter to make a good decision for the next growing season.”

Wade’s advice to farmers entering the ag tech space is be patient with the technology and stick with it long enough to see the benefits.

Brownfield interviewed Wade at Illinois Soybean Association’s Tech Connect event in Champaign, Illinois.
