Ag tech expert: “Fear is no excuse to ignore technology”

The Illinois Soybean Association (ISA) is familiarizing farmers with the growing world of ag tech and helping them overcome the fears of getting started with new technology.

ISA’s Ag Tech Lead, Jonah Kolb says agriculture is actually one of the least digitized industries.

“The reality is that even though we drive some of the most advanced equipment in the world, production agriculture is under-digitized and that means there is a lot of progress to be had.”

He tells Brownfield fear is not a good excuse to ignore technology in agriculture because there are companies and organizations ready to guide farmers through the process.

“Fear of the unknown or wasting money or time is not a good reason to engage.”

And he reminds farmers that ag tech is growing every day.

“It doesn’t matter if you are only farming for another five or ten years. Things are going to move and change in that time frame. The world will pass by the producer who ignores ag tech.”

Brownfield interviewed Kolb at ISA’s Tech Connect event in Champaign, Illinois.
