Corona is situated at the northwest corner of Lincoln County on U.S. 54, listed in the 2000 census with a population of 165.

Although Roswell is credited as being the site of the 1947 crash of what purportedly was an unidentified flying object with alien origins, Corona actually was the closest settlement to the crash site of what the Air Force later claimed was a weather balloon.
