Mental health a priority for Minnesota Soybean Growers

The new president of the Minnesota Soybean Growers says mental health is top of mind for her organization.

Jamie Beyer of Wheaton tells Brownfield lawmakers are beginning to understand the seriousness of the down farm economy.

“We lobbied pretty hard to get some additional funding, which the legislature granted for mental health.”

She says the message from the Soy Growers is to keep an open line of communication.

“We’re trying to get neighbors to talk to neighbors, and everyone just keep an eye on everyone. Keep everyone talking.”

Beyer points out the Minnesota Department of Agriculture has resources available for farm families dealing with the stress of low commodity prices and weather challenges.
