A York County man is facing two felony charges after a 12-year-old boy told Franklin County Children and Youth Services he had been raped six years earlier, authorities said.

John Bright, 54, is accused of rape of child and deviate sexual intercourse with a child, according to court documents.

Police received a report from Franklin County Children and Youth Services in April regarding a child victim who currently lives in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, but lived in Chambersburg at the time of the assault.

On May 3, the victim told a child forensic investigator of abuse he endured in 2012. He stated that Bright had entered the bathroom where he was taking a bath and "molested" and "raped" him as he was getting out of the bathtub, court documents state.

The boy had an "emotional" response when he relayed the incident with the interviewer, police records indicate.

Upon further investigation, police found that the victim has been in counseling and sees a therapist because of this incident and has spoken with both about the allegations, according to authorities.

Bright has been interviewed by police and denies the allegations, police said.

He remains in Franklin County Jail in lieu of $200,000 bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 23 before Magisterial District Judge Glenn Manns in Franklin County Central Court.
