Democratic Presidential NYC Climate Summit

LCV is joining The New Republic and Earther for their Climate Change Summit for Democratic Candidates. This Event is Unique Opportunity to Engage Candidates in Extended Discussions about their Plans to Confront the Climate Crisis.

During the first Debates in Miami, with a combined 240 Minutes of Discussion, Climate received only 15 Minutes. Ironic, being that the Event took Place in a City poised to Sink into the Ocean.

Poll after Poll shows that Voters see Climate Change as a Top Issue in the Presidential Primary.

So on September 23rd, 2019, The New Republic and Gizmodo will Host a Presidential Climate Summit in New York City. joined by the League of Conservation Voter and Columbia University’s Earth Institute, ensuring Questions will be in line with Current Climate Science.

New York Political Anchor, Errol Louis of Spectrum News (NY1), will be the Main Moderator for the Event, which will take place the same day World Leaders will be in Town for a United Nations Climate Summit.

At this Summit, the Moderators can really dig into Questions like Ending our Dependence on Fossil Fuels and what that means for Society.

We can see Candidates putting the Communities most Damaged by the Climate Crisis at the Center of the Discussion, where they belong.

And Climate Change can receive the Urgency and Attention it deserves.

It's Imperative to get these Discussions in motion now, because Climate Change is the defining Issue of our time, and the 2020 Presidential Election is our Best Chance to Stop the Crisis.

We hope All the Candidates in the 2020 Democratic Field will find a way to Take Part, because the Climate Crisis deserves to take Center Stage in the 2020 Primaries. For now, this will be a Forum-type Event; Candidates will appear on Stage One by One, to be asked Questions by the Moderator and others. During that time, they’ll be asked to Respond to Key Policy Statements and Claims now Shaping the Emergent Democratic Climate Agenda.

There is the possibility to Change the Summit to a Debate if the DNC Changes its Rules, which currently Bar Candidates from participating in Non-DNC Hosted Debates.

Maybe, Working with the DNC, the Event can be the Officially Sanctioned Democratic Climate Debate of the 2020 Election.

More detail information to follow.
