U.S.-China dispute is likely far from over, says Iowa ag leader

The president of Iowa Farm Bureau, Craig Hill, says farmers should not count on a resolution to the trade war with China happening anytime soon.

“It’s going to be difficult to change China. I’m not sure they’re willing to structurally change,” Hill says. “So I think marketing decisions need to made on the information you have at hand, and not so much on a promise of a quick recovery in this negotiation.”

Even if a deal were to be reached, Hill says, the trading relationship between the two countries may be slow to recover.

Hill spoke with Brownfield at the recent Farm Bureau Economic Summit in Des Moines.
