Attempted car burglary caught on video in West Boise

In the video, three people walk up to the vehicles parked in the driveway, trying door handles and peering inside with a flashlight.

BOISE, Idaho — Police are investigating after a car was broken into in a West Boise neighborhood early Friday morning.

Boise Police says the burglary was reported to police at 6:45 a.m. on Gabrielle Court in Boise, in the area the Fairview Avenue and Cloverdale intersection. The thieves got away with several items from inside the car, which had been left unlocked, police spokeswoman Haley Williams said.

A homeowner's Ring doorbell captured video of an attempted car burglary at his house a short distance away. The man, who asked not to be publicly identified, told KTVB the suspects came up to his home on Nichole Avenue at about 2:30 a.m.

In the video, one person keeps watch from the street while three others walk up to the vehicles parked in the driveway, trying door handles and peering inside with a flashlight.

Both cars were locked up, and the suspects were unable to get inside. After the trio's movements set off a motion sensor light at the home, they can be seen quickly moving away down the street.

Williams said the police department is reviewing the video and is investigating whether the people caught on camera are responsible for the Gabrielle Court burglary.
