Phibro makes progress on ASF vaccine

Phibro Animal Health Corporation has announced they are pursuing a patent for their developing African Swine Fever vaccine.

CEO Jack Bendheim says the group of peptides and proteins that’s been identified is a significant step toward finding a solution to the devastating disease.

Researchers within the company are creating an epitope-based vaccine which could treat ASF and stop the spread by creating a protective immune response in animals.

The USDA previously has given a notice of intent to license a preventative vaccine for African Swine Fever to Zoetis and a Bulgarian pharmaceutical company.  Vaccines are also in development in China, Vietnam, and the UK.
