[productsample/affiliatelink] Who doesn’t love a mist? If you’ve got sensitive skin, however, they’re not all suitable and especially if they contain alcohol.

La Roche Posay Toleriane Ultra 8 Mist

The thing with mists for summer is that they’re only really lovely and refreshing if they’re cool, so make sure you keep them in the fridge. The other thing is that they very often don’t feel nearly as moisturising as you think they’re going to from the labelling. Many times I’ve felt I could have just squirted water on my face because the effect would the same – add in some alcohol and you’re actually taking away hydration no matter how much you ‘mist’. But, everyone has different skin so what’s good for some isn’t good for others. This one, the Ultra 8 mist, in theory, is good for everyone although it’s by no means a natural ingredient line-up. And, you also need to watch for it interacting with foundation or make up – I got those little rolls after putting it over foundation – although it’s perfect for bare skin.

To me, this is a post hot and bothered activity (exercise, shopping, gardening) mist to calm down hot faces while giving some low level hydration – you know, those times when you’re boiling and can’t bear the thought of sweat-inducing moisturiser on your face but skin feels tight and irritated. It’s a handy one to have in the fridge for when the heat ramps up although it’s expensive (being mostly water) at £19.50 (I’ve found it on Escentual for £13.50 which is much more reasonable HERE).

Instant Cooling Spray

If you want an immediate frisson of chill on your body, I bought this instant cool mist aerosol in Superdrug for £2.99 (I think) – it’s not ideal for your face (open the fridge door for 30 seconds instead) but literally lovely on a hot bod. There are lots of this type of mist about and one is much the same as another (but in honesty I think Magi Cool is the very best) but I passed Superdrug and picked this up to spray on my very hot feet. It works like a charm for a few moments.
