Run red lights? Police will give tickets for aggressive driving during enforcement wave

The aggressive driving enforcement starts today and runs through Aug. 25, according to a news release.

Do you run red lights, tailgate or speed when driving?

Police will be watching and citing drivers for these infractions as well as others as part of a statewide aggressive-driving enforcement wave, according to the Center for Traffic Safety.

The targeted enforcement started Monday and runs through Aug. 25, a news release states. 

Some of the aggressive actions police will focus on are: red light running, tailgating, heavy trucks and the Steer Clear law, which requires drivers to move over or slow down for emergency responders along the road.

Police will target drivers exhibiting such aggressive driving behaviors as running red lights, speeding, and tailgating.

The enforcement is intended to reduce crashes, injuries and deaths, the release states.

Multiple counties in south central Pennsylvania will be participating. In addition to state police, here are some of the local departments:

York County: Carroll Township, Fairview Township, Hanover borough, Hellam Township, Lower Windsor Township, Newberry Township, Northern York County Regional, Penn Township, Spring Garden Township, Springettsbury Township, West Manchester Township, West Manheim Township, York Area Regional and York City Police.

Franklin County: Washington Township.

Lebanon County: Lebanon City, North Cornwall Township, North Lebanon Township, Palmyra borough and South Londonderry Township.
