York drug bust: Cops arrest 1, seize guns, cocaine and cash, DA says

York County Drug Task Force members converged on a York home Tuesday, arresting a suspected cocaine dealer and seizing drugs, guns and cash, according to a news release from the York County District Attorney's Office. 

Using a search warrant, police arrested Wilfredo Dabren Torres-Rivera, 22, at his home in the 200 block of Liberty Court. Torres-Rivera's arrest was the culmination of a one-week investigation during which task force members bought cocaine from him at his home several times, the release states.

After arresting Torres-Rivera, police confiscated about 225 grams of cocaine, two handguns, $4,600 cash and drug packaging materials from his home, the release states.

Torres-Rivera was charged with possession with the intent to deliver cocaine. As of Wednesday, he remained in York County Prison on $100,000 bail and has a preliminary hearing on July 9 before District Judge Ronald J. Haskell Jr., according to online court dockets.

Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro said the case was a great example of collaboration between local, state and federal law enforcement, as his office, along with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and York City Police helped the task force with its investigation.

"Shutting down drug dealers, especially those who are armed with illegal guns, makes our neighborhoods safer and protects our children and communities," Shapiro said. "Our approach to the drug epidemic is a multi-faceted approach that starts with getting drugs and those who deal them off the streets."

York County DA David Sunday also praised the partnership among drug interdiction agencies. 

“Our Drug Task Force constantly seeks to attack the source of illegal narcotics and arrest those dealers who prey on individuals struggling with addiction,” Sunday said. “Along with our partners in law enforcement, we will continue to use every tool available to us in order to aggressively arrest and prosecute those who are perpetuating the drug epidemic that is tearing our community apart. This investigation and arrest is yet another example of our state and federal partners’ continual commitment to providing York County with the critical resources needed to combat illegal narcotics and firearms."
