Police working to identify body found in river in Onondaga Twp.

ONONDAGA TWP. - Police were trying to identify human remains found Tuesday night in the Grand River in southern Ingham County.

Police were trying to identify human remains found Tuesday night in Onondaga Township.

Kayakers spotted the body south of Baldwin Park in Onondaga Township about 7:20 p.m. and called 911, the Ingham County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.

The Capital Area Dive Team recovered the remains.

The age, sex and race of the body, as well as cause of death, was "not readily determined," and sheriff's officials said an autopsy was planned.

Sheriff's officials could not be reached on Tuesday night, and no other details were immediately available.
