CMC enters Medicaid contracts with Blue Cross, Presbyterian and Western Sky

Carlsbad Medical Center and Pecos Valley Physician Group signed new Centennial Care 2.0 agreements with all three insurers that cover Medicaid patients in New Mexico. 

Patients covered by Centennial Care 2.0 plans have in-network access to services at the hospital, whether elective or emergency. The agreements also include coverage for care at the hospital’s employed physician practices.

“We are pleased to provide quality care for Centennial Care 2.0 patients through new agreements with all three Medicaid insurers,” said Cathy Hibbs, Chief Executive Officer of Carlsbad Medical Center. “Patients want access to a full range of medical services and resources near where they live and work and these contracts make sure that continues.”

Skeen Whitlock Building awarded

Keep Carlsbad Beautiful awarded the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant's Skeen Whitlock Building, located at 4021 National Parks Highway, with the May 2019 Business of the Month award.

This award was given for excellent landscape efforts that positively enhanced the aesthetics in the Carlsbad community. 

Winner, winner

Scott Maxwell is the winner of a Ruger SR1911 in the Law Enforcement Torch Run's fundraiser raffle.

"Thanks to everyone who bought a ticket and supported the Special Olympics," said event organizers.

Donate to Roswell firefighters

The Carlsbad Fire Department is accepting monetary donations to support the families of the two Roswell Fire Department employees injured in the line of duty during the June 5 fireworks explosion.

The officers sustained major burns during the incident.

The fire department will accept cash donations or checks made out to the Roswell Fire Department which can be dropped off at the fire station located at 401 S. Halagueno St.

Currier joins Lea County Economic Development Corporation

The Economic Development Corporation of Lea County announced Missi Currier was named the new president/CEO of the organization.

"Lea County is comprised of wonderful communities with continued promise and opportunity," Currier said in a news release. "I am excited to join an organization that not only strives to diversify and continue to build an already strong economic engine, but ensures Lea County is a great place to live, work and play."

Missie Curier

The Economic Development Corporation of Lea County is a private, nonprofit dedicated to recruiting business to Lea County and with assisting in the retention and expansion of current industry in the southeastern New Mexico county.

Currier will leave her position at XTO Energy's community and governmental relations ad visor.

Currier is a native of Carlsbad, new Mexico. She received a bachelor's of science, a master's of science, and Doctor of Philosophy from Texas Tech University.
