16-year-old pronounced dead on scene of Adams County crash

A 16-year-old passenger was killed in a crash Tuesday evening in Adams County. 

State Police in Gettysburg responded to the fatal crash at 7:44 p.m. Tuesday on Birch Run Road east of Milesburn Road.

A 2002 Toyota Tacoma had crashed into a tree off the right side of the road, causing heavy damage to the passenger side of the vehicle, police said.

Passenger Grant Windbeck, 16, of Waynesboro, Franklin County, was pronounced dead at the scene. Adams County Coroner Pat Felix said the cause of death is blunt force injuries to the head and neck, the manner is accidental.

The driver, Austin Socks, 21, of Waynesboro, and three passengers of the vehicle suffered suspected serious injuries and were transported to Hershey Medical Center. The passengers included Nancy Marzullo, 50, and Terry Socks, 47, both of Chambersburg; and a 15-year-old passenger of Waynesboro.

It is not clear whether seat belts were worn by the driver or passengers, according to Felix.
