Original report

There are boots on the ground near the Hanover bald eagle nest after one of the eaglets appeared to fall out of the nest on Tuesday morning.

Viewers of the Hanover eagle cam, a live stream of a nest near Codorus State Park, watched it all unfold and expressed hope the eaglet would be OK.

The eaglet, named "Star" by the camera's loyal following (its sibling is "Stripe"), was accidentally knocked out of the nest by a parent while it was delivering fish, according to Theresa Kyte, the content and community coordinator for HDOnTap, the company that runs the stream.

The eaglets were days away from fledging the nest, Kyte said.

A search party of local viewers of the camera went to look for the fallen eaglet with permission from the property owner.

The eagle family reacts after an eaglet fell from the nest on Tuesday, June 18, 2019.

Karen Lippy, a dedicated follower of the Hanover eagle cam, said that the eaglet was not low enough to be seen.

"There are no distress calls," she said in a Facebook post. "I'm sure all is well."

There is optimism among feed watchers that the incident could have been an "accidental fledging."

Along with HDOnTap, the live camera is produced by Hawk Mountain Sanctuary and Comcast Business. The stream has captured the lives of a pair of eagles for five consecutive eagles.
