Milk futures, cash dairy mixed
Milk futures on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange closed mixed for a second day this week as did cash trade while global trade continues to decline.
June unchanged at $16.28. July up six cents at $16.87. August two cents higher at $17.17. September down a nickel at $17.39. October through February contracts three cents lower to a penny higher.
Dry whey down $0.0125 at $0.3425. Ten trades were made ranging from $0.3425 to $0.3525.
Blocks up $0.03 at $1.78. Four trades were made ranging from $1.76 to $1.7725.
Barrels up $0.04 at $1.6450. Seven trades were made ranging from $1.6250 to $1.6450.
Butter down $0.0150 at $2.3625.
Nonfat dry milk down $0.0025 at $1.05.
The Global Dairy Trade auction index in New Zealand declined for the third time in a row. The index declined 3.8 percent from the last event to $3,208 per ton. Butter, cheddar and whole milk powder saw the largest decreases in prices while rennet casein reported the only increase, up 2.3 percent.
