Plane crash leaves 1 dead north of Porter Ranch

A man is dead after a two-seat propeller airplane crashed into the Santa Susana Mountains east of Ventura County on Saturday.

The crash occurred about 2:30 p.m. near Limekiln Canyon Road and Sesnon Boulevard north of Porter Ranch, according to the reports from Los Angeles County Fire Department dispatches.

The apparently privately owned craft was a vintage military plane, according to news reports. 

Authorities said one man was found dead at the site of the crash. He was reportedly the only person aboard.

There was no fire and no reports of other injuries.
