Note: Offers mentioned in this post for the Delta credit cards have expired. See current offer information on our Best Offers page.

If you read Greg’s post this morning (See: Should Delta flyers credit to Virgin Atlantic?) and have decided to credit your paid flights to Delta, you may be looking to pair that with a Delta credit card for a free checked bag (See: Free checked bags via credit card complete guide) or the possibility to spend towards elite status. The good news it that there are now increased offers available on all of the Delta SkyMiles cards. Each of these offers are about as good as it gets on these cards — which of them make sense for you depends on your needs.

Quick Thoughts

Keep in mind that Amex generally limits the welcome bonus to those who do not have or have not had these cards. It’s worth noting that the language and rule does not consider whether or not you earned a bonus — having had the card in the past is enough to disqualify you from earning the bonus again.

On the other hand, if you have not had one of these cards before, these current bonuses look decent if you have a use for the miles. While Delta catches a lot of flak for elimination of an award chart and sometimes-wacky pricing on domestic routes, they do run regular flash sales and there are still some decent partner opportunities that might make these offers attractive.

For more information about any of the Delta cards, simply click the name of the card under “The Offers” or “Key Card Details” above to go to our dedicated Frequent Miler page for that card.

[…] New Delta offers as high as 80K […]

PAUL DOYLE

Why waste time and effort to earn Delta Skymiles when they have no award chart. A one way business class ticket from the US to Asia requires 480,000 Skymiles. You need six (6) credit card bonus of 80K miles to earn 1 one way Delta One business class. Skymiles are basically worthless.

Kate

So my understanding is that if you apply and are not told that you are ineligible for the bonus, that you therefore are eligible. I had the gold delta card about six years ago, but decided to try, and didn’t receive the ineligibility notice during the application process. On the other hand, my husband had the card earlier about same time frame and received the notice that based on history with Amex and number of new cards opened etc., that he was ineligible for bonus. Major difference between is that I put more spending on my Amex cards than he does, largely because we both use my Amex premium rewards card.
Think I’ll get the bonus?
