Memorial Day services in Shreveport-Bossier area

Several traditional Memorial Day services are scheduled in the Shreveport-Bossier area on Monday, May 27.

8 a.m.  Services at Hillcrest Cemetery,  601 US-80, Haughton
Gandy-Brown VFW Post 4588 and Hillcrest Cemetery will host the ceremony.
Volunteers are invited to help with placing the flags on veteran’s gravesites at 8 a.m. Saturday, May 25 at Hillcrest Cemetery. Volunteers invited to return at 3 p.m.on May 27 to pick up flags.

10 a.m.  Services at Greenwood Cemetery,  130 E. Stoner Ave., Shreveport
DAV Chapter No. 30 and assisted by the Parkway Junior Air Force ROTC. Guest speaker will be Lt. Col. Jon Johnson. All interested organizations invited to participate.

11 a.m.  Services Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 7970 Mike Clark Road
Keithville
Flags to be placed at gravesites on May 23 at 9 a.m.
Flags to be retrieved from gravesites on May 28 at 9 a.m.
Emcee will be Major General (RET) James W. Graves, United States Air Force. Keynote speaker will be John Mercer, Department Commander for Disabled American Veterans. Bring chairs and umbrellas for comfort.
