Pockets of Minnesota where planting has gone okay

For some farmers in Minnesota, planting has gone fairly well.

Ryan Buck of Goodhue says he and a few others in the southeastern part of the state are done with corn and have moved on to soybeans.

“And right now we have about 140 acres left of soybeans to plant. Last week’s window of dry weather was a breath of fresh air, we got a lot done in a short amount of time.”

He tells Brownfield about 30 acres of corn planted the last week of April has emerged.

“Otherwise everything else has been planted a week before Mother’s Day when there were a few days to go, and then all last week.”

Buck says the corn that’s up looks pretty good, with plants on south-facing slopes a little ahead with all the cool, wet weather.
