‘Climate change and ag’ is subject of hearing
A Nebraska farmer says it’s critical that climate change solutions make economic sense for farmers.
“In today’s farm economy, we aren’t farming to rake in a profit,” says Matt Rezac of Weston, Nebraska. “We’re not making money and we’re farming to lose as little as possible.”
Rezac testified Tuesday at a Senate Ag Committee hearing on climate change and the ag sector.
Also testifying was Kansas cattle rancher Debbie Lyons-Blythe, who said she had a simple request for legislators.
“Do not support legislation or policies that unfairly target cattle producers,” said Lyons-Blythe.
She said cattle have a positive role to play in a healthy, sustainable food system.
