Minnesota Pork leader welcomes removal of USMCA tariffs

The CEO of the Minnesota Pork Producers calls the lifting of tariffs between the U.S., Canada and Mexico a welcome surprise.

“We already have challenges in getting USMCA through our own Congress, but without lifting these tariffs it would’ve probably been impossible.”

David Preisler tells Brownfield the removal of tariffs also paves the way for the Canadian and Mexican governments.

“I think this is just a fantastic first step in trying to open the door to getting the new U.S. Mexico Canada Agreement completed.”

He says Mexico’s retaliatory tariffs have cost U.S. hog producers about $8 dollars per-head.
