The crash was reported about 12:30 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Hillcrest Drive and Marin Street, according to the Ventura County Sheriff's Office.

Tsumpes was riding westbound on Hillcrest, approaching Marin, sheriff's officials said. A vehicle traveling in the opposite direction was making a left turn from Hillcrest onto Marin when the two collided in the intersection, according to the sheriff's office. The vehicle was driven by a 56-year-old Thousand Oaks resident.

Tsumpes was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Ventura County Medical Examiner's Office.

Mental health counselors were called to Thousand Oaks High, Conejo Valley High and Redwood Middle schools to provide grief support to students, district officials said.

A GoFundMe page has been started by Tsumpes' girlfriend and the schools plan to support the campaign. Students are also working on making posters to give to his family, district officials said.

The crash is still under investigation. Anyone who saw it is asked to call Deputy Mike Berg at 805-494-8271.
