Nebraska’s corn planting is at 70 percent

Corn planting in Nebraska reached 70 percent as of Sunday, compared to the five-year average of 86 percent. Corn emergence was 27 percent, well behind the 49 average.

Soybean planting was at 40 percent, compared to the 54 average. Seven percent of soybeans had emerged. Sorghum planting was 18 percent complete.

Winter wheat condition rated 69 percent good to excellent and 26 percent fair. Eight percent of the wheat was headed, compared to the 27 percent average.

Pasture and range conditions were called 78 percent good to excellent and 19 percent fair.
