Bovine TB investigation expands in Northern Michigan

Another Northern Michigan animal has been confirmed positive for bovine tuberculosis after a trace investigation linked it to an infected Presque Isle County herd.

State veterinarian Nora Wineland says movement investigations recently found an animal in Emmet County positive for bovine TB which originated from the infected herd in Presque County.  A whole herd investigation is ongoing and additional meetings are scheduled for producers in the region.

Genome sequencing is being used to determine the source of the infection.
