Bruce Wayne Richards, 63, of Nebo, IL passed away Wednesday (5-15-19) morning at Blessing Hospital in Quincy following a brief illness surrounded by his family.
Bruce was born October 4, 1955 in Pittsfield, a son of Glenn Milo and Viola G. Goewey Richards.
Bruce graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1973 and attended Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg studying diesel mechanics and small engine repair and receiving an Associates Degree.
He had been employed by Excel in Beardstown, Canton Marine Towing, and Electric Wheel in Quncy. He had also worked for Bob Goewey Construction before starting his own carpenter business.
Bruce was a “jack of all trades”. He could never pass up a good deal and was a collector of many things.
He enjoyed mushroom hunting, rock hunting and fishing. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He will be missed by all.
Survivors include his children, David (Rose) Richards, Jason Richards, Nathan Richards, Bruce Jeremy Richards, Stephen Richards, Aaron Young, Tyler Young, Brittany Martinez and Devon Wagner, fourteen grandchildren, one great grandchild, three sisters, Carol (Chuck) Hoelscher,Jan (Dean) Spann and Debbie (Randy) Herron.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, a nephew, Travis Herron and a niece, Shawnda Spann.
Cremation rites are being accorded. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the Nebo Cemetery. There is no visitation, however friends are invited to the graveside memorial service.
