Michigan lawmakers push for better broadband maps

A bipartisan group of Michigan lawmakers is asking the Federal Communications Commission to improve broadband availability maps.

The representatives say there are several problems with the Commission’s maps which are created through survey data and can leave many underserved areas without broadband service.

They also say the provider-originated reports are unvalidated and constituents should not be left out of the digital economy because of flawed maps.

The letter was sent by Michigan Representatives Tim Walberg and Jack Bergman, along with Bill Huizenga, John Moolenaar, Paul Mitchell, and Elissa Slotkin.
