NMPF asks for tariffs on EU dairy shipments

The National Milk Producers Federation is asking the U.S. Trade Representative to place tariffs on European dairy products as part of it’s World Trade Organization (WTO) dispute against EU Airbus subsidies.

President Jim Mulhern testified Wednesday before the USTR saying including EU cheeses, yogurt, and butter in a list of products with duties would put a big dent in the $1.6 billion dairy market access gap with Europe.

The WTO recently found Europe’s subsidies on large civil aircrafts are against international trade rules and is allowing the U.S. to place duties on EU products until they are in compliance.
