A bill authored by state Rep. Karen Boback (R-Luzerne/Lackawanna/Wyoming) would make Pennsylvania hunting and fishing licenses portable for men and women who serve and who have served in the Armed Forces.

House Bill 1380, which passed unanimously in the House Game and Fisheries Committee, would allow the Pennsylvania attorney general to enter into reciprocal agreements with other states that recognize lawfully issued licenses or permits as resident licenses or permits in their state.

“Our attorney general would naturally have to thoroughly examine other states’ existing hunting and fishing laws and determine if they are compatible with ours,” said Rep. Keith Gillespie (R-York County), chairman of the House Game and Fisheries Committee. “If the bill becomes law, and a reciprocal agreement is reached, not only could our veterans travel there, but that state’s veterans could travel here to enjoy hunting and fishing in Pennsylvania.

The bill will now be introduced on the House floor.
