Perdue optimistic on trade talks with Japan
Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue says he’d like to the U.S. to be recognized for being a good customer of Japan’s in a trade deal.
“We’re hopeful as a good customer of Japan, we’ll be treated as such in our trade negotiations.”
During his visit to Japan, Perdue told reporters an annual trade deficit of $70 billion dollars and President Trump’s rapport with President Abe should be acknowledged in talks.
“I think the personal relationship will help in achieving economic outcomes that are mutually beneficial.”
The two presidents are scheduled to meet at the end of this month with ag trade expected to be a strong focus.
