Michigan farmer still hopes for average yields

The head of the Michigan Corn Growers Association says delayed planting across the Corn Belt holds a silver lining for farmers.

“The whole country is behind so hopefully the markets will reflect that in due time.”

Matt Frostic tells Brownfield he’s really behind where he’d like to be on his farm near Sandusky in Michigan’s Thumb.

“We haven’t put an acre in yet.”     

Frostic says by May 15, he’ll be shifting acres to shorter maturing crops and finds hope in remembering Mother’s Day of 2013 where he just started planting a crop that had above-average yields.
