Hemp legislation passes Indiana General Assembly

A bill legalizing hemp in Indiana has passed the House and Senate and is headed to Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb’s desk.

Senate Bill 516 modernizes the state’s existing hemp laws and establishes a hemp advisory committee that will report to the Indiana state chemist and seed commissioner.

It is anticipated that grower licenses will be available in 2020.

The 2018 Farm Bill removed industrial hemp from the controlled substance list and made it a legal agricultural commodity.
