Portland company turns old Blazers jerseys into backpacks, pillows

The company has an agreement with all 30 NBA teams to upcycle old jerseys.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Blazers fans can support their team and the environment at the same time by buying upcycled fan gear.

A Portland upcycling company is re-purposing old Blazers jerseys and turning them into things like duffel bags, backpacks, hip packs and even pillows.

The company is called Looptworks.

According to the company, by upcycling the old jerseys instead of using new material, it is not only keeping waste out of the landfill, but it's also cutting down on greenhouse gas emissions and saving about 35 gallons of water per item.

Not to mention, it's a pretty cool partnership.

"It's exciting to see the momentum around it and the shot was amazing and will live in history, so it's really fun for us to be a little part of that," said Looptworks founder Scott Hamlin.

The company has an agreement with all 30 NBA teams to upcycle their jerseys too.

Soon you'll find a jersey-turned-pillow for every team in the league.

As for the upcycled Blazers gear, you can find some of it at Rip City Clothing Co. at the Moda Center or through Looptworks.
