Missouri farmer can’t plant corn on “the perfect day”

A northwest Missouri farmer’s fields are still mostly under water, “When I first got a yield monitor I learned that the very best day of the year to plant corn is April 24th. So, today’s the best day of the year to plant corn and I’ve still got water on most of my corn fields.”

Richard Oswald says since the Missouri River levee breeched March 17th, 100-thousand cubic feet of water is passing through every second at Brownville, Nebraska, just across from him, “And nothing has happened to let this water flow off of my land here, and all my neighbors.”

Oswald says he has about 300 upland acres he’ll be able to plant and hopes to plant 100 acres of corn in his bottom land if it dries up enough.
