Weekly ethanol production hits three month high

U.S. ethanol production surged last week.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration says production averaged 1.048 million barrels a day, up 31,000 on the week, for the highest weekly average since mid-January. The industry continues to watch margins, monitor the comment period on year-round E15 use, and wait to see what role ethanol plays in proposed trade deals.

Stocks rebounded from the previous week’s multi-month lows, up 71,000 barrels at 22.747 million.

The USDA expects for corn ethanol use this marketing year to be 5.5 billion bushels, with the next estimate out May 10th.
