Aziz Ansari brings 'Road to Nowhere' to Oxnard performing arts center

Oxnard will be one of the last stops for comedian Aziz Ansari's stand-up tour "Road to Nowhere."

Ansari will perform at the Oxnard Performing Arts and Convention Center at 8 p.m. on June 26; doors open 7 p.m. Tickets are $71 each and will go on sale Friday morning, with pre-sale Tuesday morning.

Aside from doing stand-up, Ansari is also an actor, writer and director. He co-starred with Amy Poehler in the NBC show "Parks and Recreation," and was a co-creator of the Netflix comedy "Master of None."

Carolyn Mullin, event coordinator for the performing arts center, said she's excited that Oxnard will be a destination for Ansari.

"I think this is turning a new leaf for the PACC. We're drawing bigger talent," Mullin said.

The final run of "Road to Nowhere" closes out a 50-cities tour that included stops in Europe. Earlier this month, Ansari performed at the Royal Albert Hall in London. Other California shows scheduled in June include Riverside, Long Beach, Pasadena, Bakersfield, Fresno and Lincoln.

The performing arts center is no stranger to big-name comics. Louis C.K. performed in 2016 and Kevin Hart performed in 2017 in the main auditorium on Hobson Way.

For the June 26 show, the use of cellphones, cameras or recording devices will not be allowed. Those who bring a phone or smart watch will have to place it inside a locked pouch to be unlocked at the end of the show. During the performance, the pouch can be unlocked at designated stations in the lobby.
