Shreveport man charged with Hoyte Drive murder

A 22-year-old Shreveport man was arrested Monday afternoon in connection to the fatal shooting of Cartell D. Willis.

Sha’ Cortez Monroe was arrested Monday afternoon and charged with second-degree murder. He was taken to the Shreveport Police Department.

The arrest was made at Cooper Road Plaza apartments, located in the 2900 block of Peach Street.

Three additional narcotics arrests were made, and others were detained in connection with the case when officers arrested Monroe at the apartment complex, according to the Shreveport Police Department.

Haston Smith, 27, Antravion Johnson, 22, and Tramarciea Ruffins, 25, each face charges of possession of schedule I and possession of schedule II with intent to distribute.

Additional narcotics arrests are anticipated.

Willis, 26, was fatally shot in the 300 block of Hoyte Drive early Thursday, April 11. He was found by responding officers lying in the driveway of a residence with multiple apparent gunshot wounds to the upper body. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
