Two injured in Highland shooting

Update, 9:40 p.m.:

Two people are recovering while a suspect is sought following a Monday afternoon shooting in Shreveport’s Highland neighborhood.

Just before 4 p.m., Shreveport Police patrol officers were called to a shooting in the 300 block of Wilkinson Street.  As officers arrived at the location it was learned a 17-year-old male was suffering gunshot injury after being struck by a projectile. The teen was taken via ambulance to Ochsner LSU Hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.

A second shooting victim arrived at the same hospital shortly after 4:15 p.m., by private vehicle.  The man, identified as 22-year-old Alan Gonzalez, was suffering a gunshot wound to the shoulder.  Gonzalez  was also treated for injuries considered non-life threatening.

Police located a weapon on scene of the crime and later a vehicle believed to have been used in the shooting. The suspect's vehicle was located near Ochsner LSU Hospital. '

While authorities have not determined the extent of the involvement of the shooting victims, information has been provided on a possible suspect.

Two men were injured in an afternoon shooting in the Highland neighborhood of Shreveport.  

According to Shreveport Police spokesman Marcus Hines, police have located a red SUV that they believe may have been a part of the incident.   

The Times reporter Emily Enfinger was on the scene in the 300 block of Wilkinson Street off Gilbert Drive.

Enfinger said evidence markers are extending down Wilkinson Street. Areas of Wilkinson Street are blocked off.   

15 units were on the scene at 4:35 p.m., according to Caddo 911 active events.
