Mercy Urgent Care opens Wednesday on North Green River Road, in a new strip mall that also will include a Tropical Smoothie Cafe.

EVANSVILLE, Ind. — An Owensboro, Kentucky, developer is leaving his mark on Evansville's East Side, with one strip mall nearing completion and another soon to start construction.

John McNulty of MR Properties LLC said he likes doing business north of the Ohio River, and both of his Evansville projects will have a restaurant and a health care facility.

The strip mall at 2101 N. Green River Road is almost done. One tenant, Mercy Urgent Care, opens Wednesday, and its regular hours will be 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

McNulty said the clinic's staff is hired and ready to see patients. Its operation is similar to a Mercy Urgent Care on Indiana 66 in Newburgh. The business also has two Owensboro locations.

Tropical Smoothie Cafe has been announced as a second tenant, although its opening date is not set. The restaurant must still get its required permits, McNulty said.

Founded in 1997 in Destin, Florida, Tropical Smoothie Cafe has toasted wraps, sandwiches, flatbreads and bowls, in addition to smoothies.

Other tenants in the strip mall have not been finalized. There is room for four to five total, McNulty said.

His other project, at 710 S. Green River Road just south of Bellemeade Avenue, is to include another Mercy Urgent Care location, as well as a Donatos Pizza.

This strip mall was announced last year, but McNulty said its timetable was pushed back.

McNulty hopes to break ground in July or August, and the businesses could open by the end of 2019.
