Coroner ID's body found in Jeems Bayou in north Caddo

Caddo Sheriff's deputies are investigating the discovery of a body in Jeems Bayou over the weekend, according to Sheriff Steve Prator.

The body was identified Monday afternoon as Howard A. Walton, 34, of Karnack, Texas, according to the Caddo Parish Coroner's Office on Monday.

Just before 8 a.m. on Saturday, deputies were notified that a kayaker found the body of a man in the bayou, about a half mile south of the bridge on Hwy. 2. Sheriff's Sgt. Pam Purgerson said there was also evidence that a vehicle had left the roadway and struck the bridge and several trees.

The Sheriff's Office Dive Team was called to recover the body and search for a vehicle on Saturday.

The incident remains under investigation.
