Rubaloff had been in the crosswalk when she was hit by a Honda Civic. She was transported to a hospital and pronounced dead on arrival, sheriff's officials said.

The driver of the Honda was an 89-year-old woman who cooperated with authorities, sheriff's Capt. Eric Buschow said. The incident did not appear to involve alcohol or drugs, he said.

Both the victim and the driver lived in surrounding neighborhoods, Buschow said. The incident is being investigated by the sheriff's traffic unit.
