Bastian Solutions opens $8M manufacturing facility in Westfield

Bastian Solutions, owned by a subsidiary of Toyota's parent company, opened on Wednesday an $8 million, 90,000-square foot manufacturing facility in Westfield that is expected to bring 87 new jobs.

Westfield Mayor Andy Cook, Indiana Secretary of Commerce Jim Schellinger and Japanese Consulate General Naoki Ito joined Bastian Solutions officials and Toyota Advanced Logistics for the grand opening.

“This is a great day for the City of Westfield,” Cook said in a statement. “With this facility we are telling the world that Westfield is a place that is open for international development. We can supply and house a diverse workforce here and have the land to build a variety of facilities.”

The facility is located along U.S. 31 in Westfield’s NorthPoint Industrial Park.

Bastian Solutions is a global systems integrator and consulting firm that provides material handling and robotic automation for large-scale product distribution. It is owned by Toyota Advanced Logistics, a subsidiary of Japan-based Toyota Industries Corporation, which is owned by Toyota Group.

According to a news release, the Westfield site houses the company's growing advanced manufacturing operations and features 10,000-square-feet of office space.

The facility will create 87 new, high-wage-paying jobs by 2020, the news release states.

Midwest company Bastian Solutions was founded in 1952 and has grown into a global corporation with 20 U.S. offices and international locations in Brazil, Canada, India and Mexico. The company employs more than 800 associates worldwide, including 200 associates across its Indiana manufacturing and sales offices in Evansville, Fort Wayne and Greenfield and its corporate headquarters in Indianapolis.

As an independent material handling and robotics-system integrator, the company provides automated solutions for distribution, manufacturing and order fulfillment centers around the world for its customers like Amway, Boeing, Newegg, Best Buy, PUMA and Roche Diagnostics.
