Overnight crash on Mitthoeffer Road leaves one dead

Indianapolis police are investigating an early Sunday crash that left one person dead on the east side.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, the crash happened shortly after 1 a.m. near the 3500 block of Mitthoeffer Road.

Police said a white sedan was found crashed into a utility pole along Mitthoeffer Road. It is unclear what may have caused the vehicle to leave the roadway.

Indianapolis police are investigating an early Sunday crash.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was hurt in the crash.

Both lanes of traffic on Mitthoeffer Road were closed for more than two hours as officials cleared the scene. The name of the crash victim has not been released.

The incident remains under investigation.
