Gun leads to Oxnard arrest of man on probation

Oxnard police said they arrested a suspected gang member found with an illegal firearm on Saturday night.

The arrest occurred at 7:40 p.m. in the 100 block of East Pleasant Valley Road near Saviers Road.

Police said they made contact with a man identified as Martin Dominguez, 23, of Oxnard, and found he was on probation. The officers attempted to search Dominguez as allowed by the terms of his probation, but he tried to flee, police said.

Officers said they caught up with Dominguez after a brief foot pursuit and apprehended him. A search yielded a loaded handgun hidden in Dominguez’s waistband, police said.

Dominguez was arrested on suspicion of multiple firearm violations and booked into county jail, police said.

A firearm and ammunition were seized Saturday night during contact with a man who was on probation, police said.
