SAN ANGELO — A Mexican food cafe has opened a food truck in downtown San Angelo.

Mendez Mobile Cafe, the third location for Mendez Cafe, opened Sunday, April 14, at 229 N. Chadbourne St.

"We wanted to expand because we wanted to get closer to downtown," owner Diana Mendez said. "We thought it would be a way to get more people."

Mendez said they tried to open about two weeks ago, but they were informed by the City of San Angelo they were in violation of rules regarding parking their food truck in the River Corridor.

However, Mendez said they were quickly able to get everything lined up and in accordance with the rules.

Mendez Mobile offers outdoor dining at 229 N. Chadbourne Street.

This location is open from 7 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, 5 p.m.-3 a.m. Saturday and noon-10 p.m. Sunday. Those hours will fluctuate depending on the crowd.

An average price for an order is $7-$8. Mendez said her favorite options are the street tacos because of the four-for-$8 value.

Mendez Cafe opened its first location five years ago next to Fuentes Cafe on Avenue K. They then moved closer to Goodfellow Air Force Base at 3415 S. Chadbourne St.. They opened their second location at 3955 N. Chadbourne St. in March 2018.
