Florida's Trinity Thomas performs her floor exercise during an NCAA gymnastics match against Missouri, Friday, Jan. 11, 2019, in Gainesville, Fla.

She also earned the SEC vault championship, taking home the honor in what has historically been her weakest event. Thomas was also named SEC Freshman Gymnast of the Year.

Penn State senior Sabrina Garcia, from the Etters area and a graduate of Red Land High School, competed on the uneven bars in the Friday afternoon semifinal at the NCAA championships, scoring a 9.8125. She was in 21st place after the first semifinal.

Oklahoma ultimately won the team championship, capping an undefeated season.

Thomas' team, Florida, had suffered a shocking setback at the Corvallis Regional, finishing third behind Denver and host Oregon State, and did not advance as a team to the NCAA championships.

The Gators still managed to send four gymnasts to the national championships.
