A 24-year-old Shreveport man was sentenced to life for raping a woman he met online at gunpoint behind an abandoned house.

Jerome Jaroid Richardson was found guilty in March for the first-degree rape of a woman he met in July 2016.

District Judge Charles Tutt sentenced Richardson to life imprisonment without the benefit of probation, parole or suspension of sentence.

Richardson met the victim through an ad on backpage.com, Caddo Parish District Attorney’s Office stated in a news release on Wednesday.

“Upon meeting his victim, Richardson held her at gunpoint, threatened to kill her and forced her into a shed behind an abandoned house on Turner Lane,” the news release read.

At gunpoint, Richardson made the victim undress and perform oral sexual acts before he raped her. Richardson also stole items from the victim, the statement read.
